Great restaurant. Upscale but not too expensive. The food that we received was totally awesome. You have to try the Seafood Chowder. Very filling.
We (5 of us) went there based on recommendations and we were really surprised by the quality and service. Over an hour after we sat our food showed up and three of the daily fish dishes were over cooked and dry. Since we waited 1 1/2 hours to get a table and another hour plus for food, no one sent anything back as we were too hungry to wait. The waitress was nice but when I told her about the fish...I got "I'm sorry"...that's it. Go across the street to Post Cards and you won't be disappointed.
My wife and I ordered the clam chowder and three sushi rolls. The clam chowder cup is a nice size (comes in a mug) and rivaled anything you could find in Boston. The rolls ranged from good to amazing, with the standout being the Na Pali roll. The Hanalei roll had too much tempura (both tempura shrimp and flakes) and the spicy tuna was very tasty.
It gets busy real fast for supper. We had to wait about 20 minutes so plan wisely.
The ambience at Dolphin is incredible. We ate outdoors and found it quite enjoyable. The service is friendly and fast and we found the portions to be good for the prices.
Location was charming next to river. Had their organic salad which was fresh but a bit pricey for a regular salad @ $14. Hubby had the fish sandwich which was good. Our friends had sushi which looked yummy and fresh so believe they are know for their sushi.
Overall, we really enjoyed Dolphin. My only advice is to get there early. It fills up fast (~5:30) so get there around 5 and enjoy the ambience, a beer and some chowder before the dinner menu is available.
This restaurant was great. The fish was freshly caught. The sushi was delicious. The decor was basic and yet just perfect for the location. The waitstaff was very helpful when trying to make a decision about which fish I might enjoy since many were unfamiliar to me. She also helped with the correct pronunciation of poke. Friendly, helpful, and not condescending to obvious tourists.
