To be fair, I am not a Japanese noodle expert and was pushing myself to be adventurous by choosing this place. Great location, excellent service. Would I return? Only for the donuts!
No comparison, AMA is fantastic. I would never have ordered what I ended up eating. I went only to try the ramen for my birthday and Johndi, the owner, suggested to enjoy the meal and sample as many items as possible - “everything on the menu is wonderful” he said. He suggested the raw pounded fish with flash fried garlic...OMG I could just eat 3 or 4 of them alone and be happy. Then we get both salad items and WOW! The flavors are incredible and the textures are perfect. The sprouts are the best I’ve ever had ever! Anywhere in the world amazing. Then we got pork belly skewers and finished with the bone broth ramen...once again THE BEST I’VE EVER HAD, period. Oh and I forgot the dessert. The doughnuts. Didn’t love them or the ice cream, but it didn’t matter because the rest was the best meal I’ve had in years. Better than San Fran, Carmel, Miami, NYC! Best service too. And they take care of their staff. Diner after work is the norm. Gotta love that! Game over. DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE.
On a recent family visit to Hanalei we pretty much ate at every restaurant in town. This was hands down our favorite.
Very cool outdoor setting. Steered there when Bar Acuda was full. Same owner. Awesome food. Fish skewer, chicken skewer, fish tacos, ramen noodle pork belly, Poke, and don’t miss the mini doughnuts. Service was first rate too.
Excellent yakiyori n ramen place. Great ambiance n service. Perfect place for dinner after a day on the beach.
Lovely views, I can tell even though it was dark when we came, in an attractive and modern location. Ordered the beef skewer, fish skewer and AMA ramen. The ramen tasted over-cooked, and I requested salt and pepper to add flavor. The fish skewers were good and so was the beef, though there were hardly 4 oz of beef on the plate, perhaps 3,oz. The best part of the meal by far for me was the hot powdered Japanese donuts. (Skip the salted caramel ice cream and ask for 2x as many donuts in exchange???) YUM!
