Getting to the resort is scenic drive for about a 15-minute scenic drive outside of Hanalei. The ocean view room actually has a view of the ocean, and is a short walk to the beach. The views of the mountains on the island are incredible. The room is nicely appointed, with a comfortable bed and lots of comfortable furniture. I was surprised to find that there are two bathrooms in our suite. Clearly I should read the description more carefully! The kitchen is a bit dated, but has everything one would need. There is no air conditioning, TV or phone, but I knew that coming in. I thought the lack of A/C was going to be an issue, but the three ceiling fans and constant breeze keeps the room comfortable. The only minor quibble I wold have is that the patio screen doors don't open and close very easily. Again, a minor issue, and I would highly recommend staying here, and would do so again myself in a heartbeat.
Quiet, friendly, close to several beaches, free shuttle for guests to local beaches & hiking locales. Friday morning free continental breakfast. 2 grilles & grille tools available for cooking. Outside rinsing showers. Pool/beaches toys free to use. Would have give. 5 stars if had pool towels & late check out available. 9 am check out is very early when your flight is later in the day. Oh and there are 9 (!) 1 lane bridges and very narrow roads with hair-pin turns on the way within 5 miles of resort. Very scary drive after arriving on late night flight! Our unit greeted us with a box of chocolates & a bottle of wine - a very nice welcome after the treacherous drive!
Very nice place, if a little remote (fine by us: that's why we picked it). Very pretty views in all directions. Mountains, ocean, sunrise, sunset. Food at the restaurant was good, too. Pricey, but so was everywhere else. You get used to all the one lane bridges.
Excellent location, but that is about all. Don't expect more. Old and tired rooms. Certainly overpriced.
We celebrated my birthday at Opakapaka Restaurant. Perfect place for a happy dinner. The fish taco appetizer and grilled opakapaka dinner were perfect. Everett took great care of us.
