Good basic breakfast. Decent service and decent selection. Have eaten there about 10 times and keep coming back. Relax, you are in Hanalei. Will go there again when we come back to Kauai (next week!)
What a nice little place to get breakfast. The girl behind the counter was awesome with the customer service and the food tasted just right. It's a very simple place with some really old school pictures on the wall which really brings some light to Hawaii and the history behind it. I would highly recommend it. The average price per plate is roughly about $11
Description on Google should be amended to "Hearty coffeehouse dishing up tiny portions in Hanalei." I liked the old community coffeehouse better. Come with the rest of the sheep and pay very high prices for meh food. Some fresh flavors in the mix tho. They had a star added as they did customize my friend's poached egg for her. Would give them 3.5.
Everyone in Kaua'i was nice to us wherever we stayed or eat. Not this place. We were treated like tourist scam and it almost messed with our day. Oh and by the way, expect to pay $30-$40 for awful breakfast and minute maid juice blended with water. We wish we read reviews before stepping in to that place. Stay away.
Oh my, a must stop in Hanalei. You’ll have to catch a menu on your way in as they’re thrown at you, but once you do, you’re on your way to a memorable feast. I got the sausage, eggs, and hash browns. Broken down into bites, the meal was a very reasonable $10 per bite. Eggs were just the way I like them...sunny side up and ice cold. Hash browns came in as hot as the coffee, a perfect room temperature. Don’t forget the sausage...which evoked nostalgia of finding week old keilbasa in the back corner of your fridge and throwing that puppy in the microwave for 30 seconds or so...just enough heat to make me realize that at least some effort went into hiding the fact that this may or may not have been scraped off another patron’s plate and onto mine. The cherry on top for this place was really the atmosphere though. The way the owner rushes you out the door fits so well with an island vacation. I’m not sure, but I’m fairly certain this restaurant won the James Beard award in 2013 for best original adaptation of day old eggs. Impressive. If you’re not hungry, at least get the $4 drip coffee. The $2 water is actually the same thing, just has a different name on the menu (local tip!). All in all, this is a place that’s fun for the whole family. The kids loved that the owner had a cigarette in one hand and our plates in the other! Trail is spice is what we like to call it! Mahalo, we’ll be back again soon and will plan our itinerary around this gem.
